DETAILS

Across Louisiana, incarcerated people are forced to work in unsafe and degrading conditions. At the Louisiana State Penitentiary, also known as Angola prison, a former plantation, men are forced to cultivate crops in the manner of their enslaved ancestors. The Promise of Justice Initiative is committed to the abolition of plantation prisons to stop the commodification of people. Join us for a special screening of PJI’s documentary, Plantations And Prisons: A History of Forced Labor in Louisiana. The screening will be followed by an intimate discussion with the film director and the people featured in the film.
